Ingredient lots

Every raw material comes in with a lot number and an expiry date. This is the record that makes traceability possible later.

Add an ingredient

Create the ingredient once here — this is what you'll pick from every time you log a new lot below.

Production

Start a batch, pick which ingredient lots go into it, and Batchwork deducts the stock and stamps a batch code — the link that makes recalls traceable.

New batch

Batchwork automatically pulls from whichever lot expires soonest (FEFO), splitting across lots if needed. You can override the lot it picks per ingredient if you have a reason to.

Actual yield isn't asked for here — once production finishes, record it from the "All batches" table below.

Traceability

Type a batch code or an ingredient lot code. In a real recall, this is the query that has to take minutes, not days.

Orders & shipments

Connect a finished batch to the customer who received it. This is the other half of traceability — without it, you know what's wrong but not who to call.

Customers

Keep a simple record of who you sell to, so shipments always point at a real customer instead of a typed-in name.

Suppliers

Keep a record of who you buy raw materials from, so every ingredient lot is tied to a real supplier — useful for reordering and for tracing a problem back to its source.
